Any recommendations on maintenance I can do on my $65 2wd 5spd 3.0? I need to just do the bare minimum. If and when it needs a major repair it is gone. I have purchased a new air filter, battery and terminals so far. I may get some plugs and a fuel filter if it starts. starts.

Yeah, I wouldn't go any deeper until you see what you got. Then maybe fluid changes. Might also check over the brake lines too.

Off topic but your trees are sure pretty. :icon_thumby:

For 65 bucks, I think you can expect to spend some money. Judging by the tree sap on the body, I'd guess its been sitting for a while. Any idea how long?Usually a vehicle gets parked because something expensive broke. I looked at a lot of Bronco IIs that were parked for years because of a cracked head or the auto trans took a dump. Try to drain the gas and add fresh. Pull the pugs and squirt a little oil in each cylinder. With the plugs out, try to turn it over by hand. Then put in your new plugs and see if it will start. Keep us posted and good luck.

Such a sad case! Needs TLC Big Time. Of course, I feel the same way about animals. One step at a time and hopefully you can nurse her back to health.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
For $65, you can't go wrong. Nice truck.

BTW, be careful with Slammin Sam's advice
Pull the pugs
I don't think they will enjoy that. :D

What did the previous owner say was the reason he parked it? I don't see any dents or major rust, I think if you got it to run, it could clean up nicely.

1-2 years. I would only use it like once a month.

Back in 2013 I asked the mechanic to change the transmission fluid while doing an oil change and he recommended not to due to the high mileage. Does that sound legit?
