Title says it, for some reason I always seem to get hate for loving my Ranger. What are some reasons you get hated on? For the most part right now for me it's because I don't wheel a jeep. Turbo Ranger holds her own though! :headbang:

I suspect this is neither urgent, nor in need of help. There are better sub-forums here for this sort of discussion.

I don't bother talking to people who have such low mentality levels to whine bitch and moan about what I drive. I simply say well if you wanna pay my bills and my truck payment you can buy me a new truck, otherwise its none of your damn business what I drive and why I drive it.

I think they are embarrassed about the huge amount of money they've wasted on these behemoths. Insecure people often lash out. Piss on 'em!!!

Look at it this way... we are compensating for a rather large reproductive organ by owning a small truck :p

I have not really had any negative attention on my Ranger ownership. I did have someone offer to buy mine earlier this year tho. My 5 year old loves the Ranger, and it is the preferred method of travel over the Wife's 09 Charger and my 10 Buick Lucerne for him. The dogs don't care what vehicle it is, if it is taking them somewhere with us, they like it.

I look at it this way: I don't need a stranger to validate my life by his expectations of what kind of vehicle I should drive.

Mtnrgr, post pics of the rottenwieler please :)

I just complain I want my warmed tailgate to work. Hands get cold pushing it home.

The prices on vehicles today is outrageous. Drive it off the lot and its worth 1/2 of sticker price.

None of the current SUV's are worth looking at.

I get more stares and compliments than anything... as long as it's fun and keeps up, everyone I associate with has no complaints, even if it breaks down, sure I'll get crap for it being a Ford but it's all in good fun, just like joking about being with their moms recently :)

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
I have a co-worker who gives me a bit of a hard time about it. He's mostly a Chevy/GM guy (was a mechanic at a dealership). But mostly just doesn't like working on Fords and doesn't like much of anything about MOPAR. His off-road vehicle is a Tracker. He DID respect the '06 Mustang GT I had for a while. It's all in good fun and I don't mind. The best vehicle I ever owned was my '88 F150.

Maybe for trade in. Once back on the lot a 2-3yo 20k mile truck is within $5K of new around here... and people eat them up.

I give my brother crap about his "wannabee 5.0" coyote in his Mustang (2011) and he gives me crap about my "poser 5.0" in my Ranger (alluding to the fact that it actually displaces 4.9 liters) It is in fun though.

I get some funny looks when I mention I am restoring it but nobody has given me any real static for it.

Quite a few people. Usually because of age and low resale value. They consider rangers without V8's to be disposable wannabe F150's. They can honestly KMA for all I care.

The only crap I ever got about mine was from an ex girlfriend who didn't like how it didn't have room for her kids to ride around in it. Well, yeah, toting not my kids around is pretty low on my priority list. I got crap from her about spending a bunch of money on it to fix it up too, but that's not really anyone's problem but my own. She's long gone and nobody else really cares.
