Shane ranger I know what u mean they give u the sissor jack for the expedition and try using that on a 3% grade up in the hills while hunting on a single lane dirt road and u have all the road hunters trying to go by but they can't so they are getting all pissed off... That's pretty much the only thing I don't like about ford that and putting a 2.9 in a truck that is better suited for a 4.0 lol sorry rant over

Someone MAY have swapped out the jacks in your truck ( definitely plausible if it's the 94 )....I've seen it happen.

But either way, grab yourself a nice 12 ton bottle jack (They arent that much money) and save yourself the hassle from now on.

Nope it's the 2006. And both trucks were bought nearly brand new, so I know they both have the original jacks.

Looks like I need to start shopping for a bottle jack. And some new tires.

I suggest you check on those things as soon as possible. You always think it'll never happen to you until it does. This experience made me glad I always check my spare tire's pressure when I check the other tires' pressure. I did not however, have the foresight to test the jack before actually getting a flat. Silly me for assuming Ford would provide a jack that actually worked with the vehicle it came with. I plan on testing the jacks in my other vehicles this weekend.

The only problem I ever had with mine was having it sink in fresh pavement.

beside checking the jack, I make sure I have a lug wrench that will break the lugs loose.

better than nothing......

I always carry a few wood blocks to give a jack a good footing.
The bottle jack is tiny to begin with, so this is what I do & also use them to chock wheels-

my truck didn't have a jack, or spare tire or lug wrench when i aquired it. i got lucky an found an old scissor jack in the woods, so far its held up. my spare is an old snow tire i found that i mounted on a bent rim, so far its been holding air.. its nice having new 5 ply tires..

I had an oem jack fail 10 seconds after putting a cinder block under the frame of an explorer. It was one of the stand up screw types and it completely collapsed.

I've never trusted oe jacks

My credo
the grey-t escape
i carry a small floor jack, i also move the spare to the bed, mounted upright between the wheelwell & the front end of the box, drivers side. spare is original yet isnt quite the same size as the tires it came with from the factory. truck has 235/75/15's and the spare is a 225 /70/15, has "temporay use only" hot-stamped into the side wall. maybe a 235/15 wouldnt fit in the under bed carrier and ford had no choice but to go with a smaller tire as a spare, aside form the "temp" stamping on the tire side wall, it looks like a normal tire to me, probly didnt want someone running it for 5,000 miles stright and causing spider gear wear.

Consider yourself lucky that your vehicle even CAME WITH a jack and spare tire. My nephew just bought a brand-new car, and under the trunk floor where the spare and jack should be was a fitted plastic filler piece with a can of fix-a-flat and little 12Volt air compressor!
