Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
Back when I had more free time I would spend a lot of time and would go shooting almost every weekend. I would go on the gundeal subreddit a lot to find cheap ammo, they were always posting good deals on PSA stuff.

one of my AR receivers is a PSA, but most of their stuff seemed to be too good to be true pricing, so I normally stayed away. Harbor freight of guns.

Only really “cheap” gun I bought was a Chinese SxS “coach gun” with a 19 or 18” barrel. Fun to play with, but wouldn’t want to have it for any heavy use.

5.7 is not cheap, and you can’t get the real shit legally. Have a friend that daily carry’s 5.7 fn or hk. Got money though.
Ammo is still way too expensive to be shooting as much as I would like to. I actually havnt been out in years 😔 5.7 IS damn expensive too haha 😋 pretty much a buck a round for whatever it was I bought.. gunshop didn't have a great selection.. pistol ammo was pretty picked over.

You're right though.. can't get the real fancy stuff legally. However... you don't exactly NEED the real stuff for the round to realize it's engineered purpose... you just need to be close enough.. which is well within engagement distance with a pistol.

Congrats on the new pistol. I always thought the 5.7's would be fun but as said expensive. Not that anything shooting related is cheap anymore. I've all but quit doing it because of the cost. I've handloaded for quite some time and it just kills me to be paying 4X what I did 4-5 years ago for components. I know nothing ever stays the same but wow.

It's insane right now...still. All my local shop had for 5.56 was 20 dollar boxes of 20 😑 wtf

Hoping I'm comfortable with the 5.7 within a few hundred rounds or so, it usually doesn't take me long.. especially with striker jobs.

I settled on a .22 WMR semi auto pistol a few years ago, I haven't compared them but with like a 4.5" barrel if I remember right the PMR 30 should still pack a punch and even now it's still under $15 for 50 rounds... of course that's not my only cordless hole puncher and not what I carry for protection but I don't doubt it would do the job most of the time...

Deengineer until it is how Blue Oval should have sold it!!
@Blmpkn ,
If that 5.7 doesn't float your boat, here is what I learned:
A Taurus G2c, G3c or PT111 will take a full sized Taurus G3 slide, which permits using a G3 comped barrel...resulting in a 5" barreled G2c/G3c/PT111!!!

Also Sig 226, twenty round magazines made by Mecgar (Mecgar makes all Taurus magazines) work like business. Pictured is a standard Taurus 12 round with a custom finger extension; the 20 round mags feel great outside the waistband with a spacer.

I love my S&W 65-3 .357 i just bought back in march.

Not exactly in tune with the SA conversation yall were having but thought id throw it out there.

Its a good trail gun...would be a bit bulky for EDC though. I use my .38 snub for that.

....but yes ammo is ridiculious still. .38 is like 30 bucks for 50 rounds, .357 is 35-40 for 50 rounds. I paid 30 bucks for 20 rounds of buffalo bore 180gr .357 "outdoorsman" for my .357. Havent shot any yet out of it though. But thats what i carry when im on the quad or camping up north.

My .38 i keep JHP +P 125gr in it.

As if the ammo shelves weren't already bare enough up here.. I wake up to some terrible goddamned news this morning. You'll hear about it.

This is a nice, quiet state. Can't believe this shit.

I do.

I was/am 20 minutes away from where all that happened. Gonna be interesting to see what shakes out in the next few days.

.22 Mag is a nice round. I keep some in my single six when I'm not using it to kill paper bad guys.

I saw the news last night about what happened in Maine. Unbelievable.

It is further proof that it isn't guns that kill people... crazy mentally unstable people do.

Just more fuel for the anti-gun crowd.

I don't really wanna 'be like them' and instantly politicize a tragedy, but yeah.. we're gonna be in for a rough ride concerning certain freedoms up here now. We've always been a kinda wierd state with firearms.. historically blue.. but.. really no meaningful restrictions on anything and passed constitutional carry a handful of years back.. private sale still ok.. voted to keep that around the time we got CC..

Anxiously waiting to see how long it takes our governor to start in on talking plans for new legislation.

Mind you.. Maine has red flag laws already.. the guy recently got released from a psycho house.. and apparently threatened to shoot up the army reserve base or whatever that he's apart of as a firearms instructor..

Absolutely insane. 8 people my bosses stepchildren know are dead, another 7 injured. Another coworker was at the bar playing darts and narrowly escaped.. seeing one of his buddys killed.. so sad.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. I really don't like people 😕

Both literally and figuratively sadly.

I will say... the 'safest store in town' is still open.. and business is (no pun intended) booming. Literally everyone they employ was there and had their hands full with customers. Never seen it that busy. Bought 2 more 30s and filled them.. 90$ later 🙄

Michigan was kind of that way too. Untill that stupid kid decided to shoot up his classmates.

Its ridiculious...these bad apples give good owners a bad name.

I heard that guy in maine was a military firearms instructor too. Its a dicked up situation all the way around
