The savage 64s are clean freaks, still great rifles though
sure is. i run a bore snake through it after a shooting session and then break it all the way down every 5000 rounds or so. it'll get so much build-up behind the bolt that it wont go back enough to chamber another bullet.

As if you shouldn't do that to EVERY gun..... I fully break all mine down before and after season, if I use them or not. And run the bore snake thru it after every group of shots.

After use I usually wipe it down with gunzilla so my fingerprints won't turn to rust.
Tend not to touch the bore as I don't have a good cleaning rod yet.

time to throw up some updated pics!!

i added some dark brown paint to my 700P about a year ago and never posted pics....

then i added a mag extender, it holds 7+1 now and still opens like a regular BDL floorplate. plus i added a badger ordnance bolt knob, gives a little bit better leverage

then i got a new harris bipod, i had a 9-13" and it was too tall, so i swapped it for a 6-9"....much more comfortable to shoot whilst prone

My Stevens 200 in .223, currently my rifle for yotes - if I find any.

This here is a small pic of my vz58, it has headspace issues, so I can't shoot it till after I pony up some cash to fix it.

i took one of my 3 12ga. shotguns to a gunsmith a couple of weeks back to get it cut down. when i was there he told me not to worry about buying gun oil for my guns, he said he prefers to use whatever motor oil i have laying around. your guys take on this? good idea or bad? i don't know a ton about guns, but i do know my way around them and the safety aspect, so i figured since he is a professional i could trust it, but just wanted someone els'es take on it

personally, i'd buy gun oil.. b/c its engineered for guns... simple as that. i love rem oil. but there are also more expensive versions i use at times.. simple as, i have some expensive guns, some not so much.. so i don't want to skimp out on cleaning and protecting them.

I use olive oil on my blackpowder pistols, it protects well and doesn't attract fouling like regular oil, doesn't reek like it either. :icon_bounceblue:

I still use regular oil on the smokeless ones though. :icon_thumby:
