What year ranger did your donor come from? Okay I'm guessing the taillight harness is the one that runs along the frame rail on the drivers side underneath the brake booster ?? So you used the big white plug from the ranger? And plugged it right into the female end of the b2 harness? Or did your splicing there?

I used a 3rd gen Ranger. It plugged right in. The taillights were different plugs but the headlights worked. You have an advantage using the ex. I wouldnt think there would be any splicing at all. It all plugged in for me. But I also switched to manual doors ans tcase

Okay thanks for that bit of info any idea as to why there is a extra wire on the ex side? Maybe a extra ground is all I can think of:?
Not sure on the extra wire. Just remember. The b2 is just the first draft of the ex. It has the same engine compartment w the same holes. It will all go right in. Ford doesnt like change.

okay so got it all wired up according to the official 91 explorer to B2 swap
http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/4-Liter_Conversion_wiring.html
acctually wasnt that bad :D
but when i turn my key i cant hear fuel pump turn on?????
im retraceing my connections now.
shes cranking over and acts like she wants to go but without gas shell never fire!!!
The computer turns on the fuel pump via Tan/LG wire. That wire is on the test connector as well. If you ground the Tan/LG wire at the test conn does the pump run? If so then the computer is not getting info to turn the pumps on, i.e. it doesn't know you're trying to run/start/etc. If not then the fuel pump relay doesn't have power or the inertia switch is open or something.

That assumes the computer relay is working and powering up the computer when you go to run/start. That is usually a R/LG wire coming from the ignition in run/start position that turns on the computer power relay.

Just thinking out loud...

okay so here it is! im having a hard time starting her when she gets warm first thing this morning i went and started her and she started right up n idled fine, she got hot driving because i hadnt completely bled the cooling system
well we made it to micky Ds ate breakfast for 30- 45 mins then went filed her up with coollant
then we tried to start her for another 45 mins and she was just being stubborn( too hot)???
cranking it would fire about 5-6 cylinders then it would just lose its momentum trying to start
tommorow im going to try and get video of my problems
n im going to do a few lil tweaks tonight

for one i dont have the explorer air box as the PO had chopped it up and made a snorkel
but have everything from the mass airflow sensor back to throttle dont know if that will make it hard to start( i wouldnt think so)
also dont have the o2 sensor plugged in as the connections were differnt
wouldnt think that would make it hard to start?

i have every lose vacum line that i can find plugged

okay soo cutting to the chase....

a few ideas i had.

it feels like my 2.9l on the highway NO GETUP

im thinking my fuelpump could be starting to go..

or i have a leaking injector or two???
does anybody know whats the best way to diagnose this?

basically its just not running right

also dont know much about the diagnostic test connection on this vehicle.
how much info can i get from codes?
whats the best way to get these read?
idk if autozone will do the old OBD1 connection

thanks i know i scattered a bunch of ideas around but still unsure myself
wish i had a expert that i could take it to at this point,
I was thinking of taking it to a shop but with the 4.0 itd prob just confuse em
would be great watching them scratch their heads tho.

Discoverd my #2 cylinder had a cracked plug and was shorting against the head
got the new plugs in and cleaned up the iac valve AND.....

IT RUNS LIKE A NEW TRUCK!! for the moment being anyways.
been busy with work these last few days hopefully this weekend i can finish up my build thread and get the rest of these photos up

Sorry about your luck things have to go real bad for a motor to do that.I don't know the cause of the melt down but the O2 sensers have to be hooked up it's how the motor knows if it's running rich or lean.
