Yep. We're trying to make RBV history. The hardest part will be making an adapter plate to accept the TB. Stay tuned!

found this on ebay. gonna get it and see if we can use it upside down. it's an adapter to mount a holley 2barrel carb onto a tbi chevy. if it works we wont have to get one made.

New progress pics.

Here's the TBI sitting on the intake manifold.

The chevy gasket on top of the intake showing the difference in the ports.

This bad-boy upside-down will connect the two.

Side-by-side comparison of the butterflies.
Ford- 1 1/2"

Chevy- 1 3/8"

Just for fun!

Also made some headway on wittling down the harness. (no pics)

Dangerranger83 tried swapping, I believe, a 3.8 TBI onto their 2.8... He had some mixed results. I think swaps like this are cool, and I hope for your success! Some day I will step through the door of a bronco 2 again....

the 3.8 tbi uses 2 33lb/hr injectors totaling 66lb/hr fuel delivery and the 2.9 computer (which the swap in the B2.org tech library uses) has fuel curves/pulse width setup for 6 injectors which at their operating pressure flow 14.5lb/hr each totaling 88lb/hr........not even in the ballpark.

The iac motor needs to be jury rigged.

The ford efi won't run with my duraspark distributor.

I would need to swap 2 whole harnesses dragging wires all through my cab (this will add in with just a few wires.

This setup will run at such low pressures that an inexpensive inline carb pump will work.

And my favorite part, not only will it run with any distributor, with my duraspark I can utilize the electronic spark control and so the ecm will modulate ignition curves to match rpm/fuel curves.

Of course this is all conjecture, as far as an internet search can yield, nobody has ever put a gm 2.8 tbi onto an rbv, much less utilized the electronic spark control.....we are breaking some new ground here.

Here is this weekend's progress.

My adapter came saturday and we discovered that the threads were different. a tap and some helicoil solved that.

Chevy TBI studs in.

The Chevy thottle "nub" was not compatible with my B2's throttle cable so we had to swap the ford nub on to the throttle body.

The Chevy nub was rivetted on so a grinding got the job done.

Ford nub on the throttle body.

Here it is mounted to the B2 2.8.

Also scored a fuel pump of a fuel injected F150 from the junk yard.

Cammeddrz and I made some more progress yesterday.

One of the valleys hung over the adapter about 1/8" so we used some Kwik-steel to fill the gap.

Making some progress on the harness.

Here is roughly how much of the Chevy harness we need. (there's probably some more stuff that can be cut out though)

The harness in the BII. (the computer will be mounted in the stock BII location on the passenger kick panel)

We found that the coolant temp sensor threads in perfectly.

Thats all for now. Need to go get some fuel line and some wire loom now and work on where to mount some of the stuff like the fuel pump, relays, and the ignition coil. More updates soon.
