Removing 1996 Ranger Inst. finish panel

I need to replace the GEM module but can't figure out how to remove the trim panel. I have the factory repair manual and it only says remove the center finish panel surrounding the radio.
I think it snaps out but i don't want to break it.
Any info on how to remove the center finish panel would be greatly appreciated.

There are two 7mm bolts just above the climate control panel, remove those, the rest snaps off. Gem module will be on the left of that.
What makes you think you need to change the gem?

The wipers, courtesy lights, alarms and other things associated with the GEM are non functional.
Fuses associated with GEM check good.

Received used GEM from ebay today. Installed GEM module and all is well. Windshield wipers, dome lights, alarms are all working.
Ford lists GEM for $300, got unit from ebay for $43. I'm surprised the Auto industry has not been sued for putting the windshield wipers through this device.
I was driving home from supermarket during rain when I tried to switch from intermittent to regular speed when the device failed. Rain got harder and I was driving blind. Scary! I was in traffic and could barely see yellow center line and I had to keep going. After 3 or 4 minutes it subsided enough to get off road.
