With your truck in double low and 1st gear does it feel low enough for crawling or do you wish it was lower? Do you have to spin up the torque converter a lot to crawl stuff?

Plenty low with 4.56s and 40s. Single case in low isn't enough. Also really nice to have when trying to crawl on top of the snow.

I am just debating if a single case with a 4:1 ratio will be enough. I have only wheeled with a manual and I don't want to wish I had more gearing if I go to a single case. My current setup is like in the 94:1 range I think, but that is with a manual tranny.

4to1 I think will be low enough but with a doubler you'll have more gear selections. I run single low in the snow most of the time. I think 4to1 would be to much and high wouldn't be low enough. My buddy has a 5.3 4l60 and atlas 3.0 he said its just a tad too low for sand and snow. I'd go doubler now add 4to1 later in the 300 you'll have 2:1,4:1,6:1 there's nothing you wouldn't have the perfect gear for.

That is what I have been thinking. So when are we going to get to see some wheeling shots of this thing?

I'm not sure hoping soon. Just went through a divorce that's why progress has been slow. But I had a prenup so she did t get shit. I'm wanting to make a dune run hopefully in the next couple weeks.

Finally replaced rear spring bushings which were hammered after 110 miles. The inner metal sleeve was wider than the spring so it just slid back and forth tearing the rubber out. While the springs were out I discovered a sheared center pin. This has me kind of concerned so I replaced them and bought a couple spares. good news a lot less body roll.

Got more little stuff done front shackle mounts from Barnes 4x4 new ubolts for rear axle old ones were shot. And finally got around to front bump stops. They are rear bumps tops from a Nissan pathfinder. I've got 5.5" of up travel which should be enough for the dunes.
