Ranger 4x4 coils.

are the 4x4 ranger coils the same length as the 2wd rangers?

Coils & leafs are the same. Difference is the 2WD does not have a rear block, and the 2WD I-beam is shaped different.

Then how is the sploder any diffrent? I heard the sploder springs are longer.

Explorer leafs are heavier duty and will not bend as much thus giving you a little more lift and load capabilities but I have explorer springs in my ranger and they weren't any longer.

Explorers also use a spring-under-axle configuration. Because of this the leafs are arched a slight bit more as well.

I knew that, I'm just Lookin at some 4x4 coils. I have a 2wd extcab 2.3 and he has a 4x4 4.0 ext cab

The springs should all be the same size but the load ratings on them will be different, a 2wd will most certainly have softer coils then a 4x4.

I think it depends more on optioning, such as engine size and Supercab/Std cab.

A 4.0L Supercab truck w/AC will have heavier springs than a std cab 4-cyl, regardless of which one's 2WD and 4x4.

But the springs will still physically interchange however.

Actually believe it or not, Expo leaves actually have LESS arch than a standard ranger spring.

My '94 Ranger springs were less-arched than a set of junkyard Ex springs I had bought ('00 IIRC). Maybe it must vary between models then.

Shit...that's my supplier for my shop...I'll have to print them out at work and take a photo of them. Gives you all the springs ford ever used in the ranger/expo with bushing sizes/part #s, arch, lengths, etc.

I was told on BroncoII.org that 2wd ranger coils will give you maybe an inch or 1.5" over stock 4x4 coils. not sure if thats true or not. i might try it, since i have a 2wd ranger and my b2 in the garage now at the same time. ill let you all know how it works out.
