Getting closer to being done the cage. Got the internal cage to engine cage outriggers sorted. Cut/enlarged holes through the fire wall to gain access to A-pillar tubes. While it doesnt look like much, it was quite a bit of work to get it all to fit and keep the stock wiper linkage intact.

And you can see where to the tube passes through the firewall into the engine bay.

Need to start plating frame/designing engine cage/coilover mounts.

I need to weigh my truck someday. I thought I would be in the low 4000s, but you have cut out a lot more weight that I have.
However, I have zero tubing...

Yeah added lots of tube, but Ive gutted everything, and stripped speakers/wiring/carpet/all interior trim/insulation/wiring/old mud/bed/etc. I would dare say my rear cage is marginally heavier than a stock short bed. Hoping to be under 4400...will see...

Fiberglass fenders helped...

You could fill your tires with helium!

How much do those coil overs weigh? They look fairly light.

my explorer weighs in the 90 pounds heavier and the mazda was at 4770 I think you should be easily under your 4400 mark since I have a lot of stuff that is unneeded on mine

Been busy, havent posted in a while. Lots been done, and even more than what pics I have.

Engine cage started, goes through firewall in 3 places.

coilover mounting

and coilover in position.

Mounts are actually all done on this side, just dont have a pic. Will post more when other side is completed, and then need to weld the cage fully, its just tacked for now.

Thanks Mike!

This is the first time the truck has supported its own weight in a year and a half, very pumped. Still have to make the removable braces in the front of the engine cage, and a couple more down tubes, but shes getting close! I think my spring rates will be just about bang on. This is about ride height, and the upper coil retainer is turned up most of the way, so as weight is added Ill just turn them down to where I want them.

And scored these at the junkyard; MINT black gen 3 Ranger hood and front fenders (wrapped them in shrink wrap to keep the grinding dust off). Im going to have 2 sets of skins for the truck; fibreglass for pre-running and go fast stuff, and stock steel bedsides/fenders cut to fit the wheels for trail-bashing.

Peace.
