I was on my way to look at an 89 2wd today, but I got nailed for having 20% window tint on my side windows. So the money I got for my car is going toward a fine. The cop told me I need to lighten up the windows or he will get me again for tint and bumper height. I passed him on the freeway doing the speed limit and he pulled out and got me for tint out of all things. I have had my my fair share of speeding tickets, and Ill admit I deserved them, but I call bullshit.lol
I know how you feel! I have 5% on my diesel and I have had it on there since 2006. I have only been pulled over 3 times since 2006 for it. Two of the times was because I was in an area where there are not many, if any, lifed 4x4s. They just used to the tint as probabable cause to see what i was up to. I was out there for school. No big deal. The 3rd time was a cop that was coming at me in my home town and turned around to get me for it. He must have seen the drive in the driveway many times and finally saw me on the move. Those tickets are more expensive than speeding tickets. Go figure. 99% of cops dont seem to mind the tint. But there are a few that like the easy targets when they are having a bad day.
I once got a warning in a yuppy town for being too muddy. "It was a distaction to other drivers" he said. I said, "What about the 24" spinner wheels and the 150dB Harleys?". Those distract me. So do any Rangers tires larger than 33" tall haha.

I am looking for a DD so I can get the blue turd under the knife before the dead of winter. I have headers to put on, which I know will end up with like 6 six bolts stuck in the heads and I have to swap intakes to accommodate the older style EGR as well as add an O2 bung and make a flange to mate the y pipe and cat. I also have the TB and MAF to throw on when I do the intake manifold.

I also have everything for the locker which I may start doing this weekend not to mention I need to finish the traction bar.

I just need a week off school and work, then I would be set.lol

Your e-personalities (and the color of your trucks) are nearly identical.

I do the same thing with mark and eddie (they both have some numbers that follow their names, don't recal off the top of my head)

I have been wanting a Hurst short throw for a while, but I cant justify the price tag on a new one, so I did some work with a chunk of aluminum on the lathe and made a spacer to move the shifter bushing location up about 1.25" from stock. It looks very similar to the hurst, but utilizes stock bushings. Ill post up pics tonight.

I picked up a new DD/fuel saver so once I get tags on it its game on for the truck.

I ended up getting a an 84 VW Rabbit Diesel. Its a Mint condition 4 door with less than 150K. I got enough spare parts with it to almost build another car.lol

Here is the shifter housing I made.

Started with this...3" diameter 3" tall chunk of aluminum

And I ended with this

I still have to get an extra shifter to extend, but the hard part is done. It uses stock bushings, and the stock dowels. The smaller diameter part slips down where the original bushings were. Then original top plate and some longer bolts hold it all together. I will get some pics of it bolted to a tranny tonight maybe.

I saved all the measurements, so I can make few more if it works out ok.

And the new whip

I finished up the short throw and installed it.

I ended up shorting the throw by around 32%. Which is roughly 2.5" shorter throw from 3 to 4.

I added 1.25" to the bottom of the shifter, which changed the ratio from 6.09:1 to 4.19:1

I cut the bottom portion of an older shifter off as close to ball as I could. I then marked out where I would need to cut my existing shifter off to make it 1.25" longer that it was originally by adding the portion I cut off the other one.

The stock shifter is 2.875" from the center of the pivot ball to the lower tip and the new shifter is 4.175".

Here is the housing with the lower bushing in and the original pins pressed in.

I ordered a new top retaining plate/boot, so when it comes in I will take pics of everything bolted together since it was dark when I got it in today

Not yet. Headers will hopefully get done over winter break. Since the headers were for a 94 I have to swap intake manifolds to accommodate the older style EGR, and I need to make a flange for my cat to mate to the older style Y-pipe flange. Not to mention I figure on at least half the bolts breaking off.

I already have the intake mani and EGR tube, header bolts, gaskets, and I got a new gasket for the 66mm TB. I do need to open up the inlet to the intake mani though

The TB is on, but the MAF housing wont work. It is actually smaller than my stock housing and wont seal up in the air box. it would be a nice upgrade for a 2.3 or 3.0 though.
