UPS delivered 1 of 2 Rockauto boxes Saturday. I tracked the missing box, it was "sorry we missed you" 4 hours before the delivery I did get. Hmmm,,,
Kept a vigilant watch today, UPS showed up about 12:45.
it was a plain box, no markings, no Rockauto tape, but in good shape.
then I notice the address label, it's on a piece of cardboard ripped from another box.

once opened it was obvious why it weas delayed. the 2 rotors/hubs had attempted a breakout and mostly succeeded.
Kudos to UPS for re-boxing and delivering it. :icon_thumby:

this is how it came out of the box, I didn't tear anything.

My credo
Doing things wrong, until I get it right.
I bought a window regulator for a Nissan from a guy on InfamousNissan.com. When the box came, I happened to be home, and the UPS driver handed me an empty box and walked away. I had to yell to get his attention. "Hey, this is an empty box!" he turned and said, "so are you rejecting the delivery?" I said "Dam, Right, I dont want an empty box." He seemed confused and took the box back. When he grabbed it from me is when I noticed the bottom end was just flapping around. (the box was about 7" wide, a foot long and 1"thick) I said "It might still be on your truck, It looks like it broke the tape and slid out." I described the apparatus to him and he said "If i find it, I'll bring it back". I knew I'd never see that regulator. The seller was given $100 for "insurance" and he refunded my $$, no problem.

Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.
Getting parts from internet places like RockAuto used to be a good deal, years ago.

For me, not any more.

Shipping is so much more expensive, the packaging at the supplier is so half-ass, and the shipping carrier people don't care if it gets there or not, or if it gets to the right place.

That's a familiar scene. I just ordered a set of rotors/hubs, calipers, and pads for my F250 a few weeks ago. The rotors were big heavy things and were packed in their own boxes, as were the calipers. There wasn't much left of them when they were laid on my porch. Then it poured rain and the rest just kind of disintegrated around the rotors. I did get a lot of RA stickers, but ended up with six or seven of the exact same sticker. :annoyed:

RA shipping does kind of suck. I always check all my options before ordering through them. Lately I seem to be getting a lot through Advance. There's one here in town to pick up at and there are 10-15% discount codes usually available. Before shipping, the RA parts would have been a screaming deal this time compared to everywhere else. Even after shipping, it was still the least expensive place and also the added convenience of everything coming from one vendor.
