I was riding with a friend today in a 2001 ranger with a 3.0. We were pulling a trailer of bricks on to a highway accelerating from 35 to about 50 mph. At about 50mph there was a loud bang/pop followed by extreme loss of power. We pulled over to look under the hood. The only visable thing wrong was the vacuum line was blown off the egr(I think ,he called it an erb). He reattached the line and then the truck started back up. When we went to take off the truck wouldn't break 2800rpm. We disconnected the trailer and only could get up to 15mph. No check engine light is on. No codes scanned off his computer. He put a junkyard egr on and it still has no power. I think it may have jumped a tooth on the timing chain but we didn't get a CEL. The load may have been to heavy for the engine but it drove fine for 20mins. The engine isn't smoking or making any unusual sounds. Any info would help. He are going to try to figure it all out on saturday. Thanks.
