Different thread, but same Ranger! Gonna try and tackle that today depending on how long I have to wait at emissions and registration. Thanks for the insight.

As for oil, it smelled fine. But I didnt get a good measure. Drained it right into the reservoir and took it to a shop to get recycled.

I watch YouTube when I'm being held hostage.

For window motor repair: you will need tin snips or a hole saw, drill, 8 mm deep well socket, Phillips screwdriver for the door panel screws if I remember right. 3, 7/16" nuts or plastic dowl https://youtu.be/uMO4epRO0OQ

My credo
Break it right the first time. Fix it better the next time.
When I replaced my window motor instead of reinstalling the hardware to hold the motor on I pop riveted the motor back in place. It is a lot easier.

I dont know what you mean by 'pop riveted', but I'm hoping it'll make more sense when I take off the door panels and get a look at everything.

Automotive doors are usually the only place you see large quarter inch aluminum rivets, easy to drill out if you punch the pin back first, most people just replace them with quarter inch nuts and bolts. In my case I still use the bolts to replace them and still have the large Riveter from when my son and I worked on Pontiac's plastic.

BTW you cannot see what's wrong with the door Motors you have to take them out and take the gear drive apart.

Mine was sticking when it was all the way down. I had to hit it with my fist to make it go up. I took the panel off and greased all the tracks with white lithium grease and everything has been working great. Yours might just need greasing. I have done this many times to solve motor issues.

Grease can help but those tracks are tight! if the motor keeps running after its up and after it's down or while it's trying to go up or down it's the gear drive, it makes a whirring bumping sound

It just keeps running after it's up. The window stops half an inch from the top, but the motor keeps whirring like it's trying to push it up.
