yea it's only a semi/ my cousin has the auto version. paid $300.00 with the mag. I picked up the 75 rnd drum and the bayonet at the gun show. the auto is my smith 3914 9mm.

j/k - the only handgun I've ever shot was a black powder navy colt replica a friend at work got. I'd have been lucky to hit a watermellon at 20 yards.
That pretty much sums up my pistol collection. 1851 Confederate Navy/Army mutant, 1860 Colt Army, 1858 Remington New Army, 1858 Remington New Army Sherriff (shorter barrel)

They are a riot to shoot, and with a little practice can be very accurate. Dad is into cowboy action shooting and we have the 1' square steel plates set up, I am pretty good at hitting them at whatever distance you are supposed to for cowboy action. Since I usually have to wait for the smoke to clear between shots I am not all that fast though...

Fair warning on the Ruger. DO NOT cup the grip in your off hand while shooting heavy loads. That sharp, wooden grip will hurt!!! LOL!
Dad's older Vaquaro's (based on a Blackhawk) can hurt after awhile too with spicier .45LC loads. Even the watered down "cowboy" loads buck pretty good. Especially compared to the .38spl that is so stupid common in the sport now with the recoil of a sick .22LR.

Most guys in CASS hold the pistol mostly with the strong hand, and have the weak hand in roughly the same position on the other side and work the hammer with that thumb. They can make a .38spl sing like a semi auto getting after it.

I get too into the movies I guess, anything but the one handed hold feels odd to me, and the nature of my cap-n-ball sidearms prefers it too. The natural feeling to tip the gun up when cocking the hammer gives the fired cap a chance to fall off rather than jam up the gun.

My only aspirations for pistols is a long barreled Ruger Vaquaro .45 with wood grips and a Springfield Armory GI 1911... mainly because while fun to shoot, BP is a PITA to clean. Especially when hunting when you have to empty and clean every night.

This ain't my first rodeo, boy. I shoot six guns like a man, one in each hand.:D

the smith was changed in 82 from wood to hoge grips because the wood would splinter. no waiting period in CO.
I'll raise your new ruger with my AK. I sold my mini 14 to buy my b2.
your 870 reminded that the supervisior at work has this on his truck plate and it was not a vanity plate 870-SKS
I'v never really been a fan of S&W's, but that's one good lookin' gun.

We took my all the hand guns out to my buddy’s place back in March and we did the two gun shoot like in the movies. My buddy has a Sig 225 as does my son and they were shooting both at the same time. Emptied them in no time flat.

My son told me last night that he has put a glock on layaway at the gun store. When he pays it off it will be his four hand gun. 22nd weapon in the safe. I started him with the "chipmunk" 22 single shot when he was 6. The wife didn't like it but.

The son also asked if he could take the .44 out to his cousin's place on Saturday and shoot it first. I said it was OK. I'll get my turn on it soon enough. I can't go because I'm supposed to be putting in a sprinkler system for the yard.

Thanks guys. Case your wondering, the holster is a tucker hf-1,from tuckergunleather in Texas,he does fancy for more $ but lead times are higher as well, took 7 weeks to get mine. If u don't like it,they want it back,no questions asked.

I hit where i aim out to 50 feet with it,beyond that i figure a rifle is called for. Between the eyes at 50 feet is good with my old eyes. Joy to carry, forget i have it on sometimes.
