I'm going to have to replace the front rotors on my truck. My manual is on the way and not in my posession yet, but the rotors are unsafe to me and should be replaced soon.

So, besides for the rotor, I figure I might as well just repalce the inner and outer bearings instead of saving the old ones (agreed?), as well as replacing the seal.

Is there anything else hardware related I'm going to need that I'm missing (besided for brake shoes)? Should I be checking anything in my manual hubs while I have it this far apart?

Definately change the seals, but I would inspect/repack the bearings. It's rare for all 4 to go bad, unless there was some water intrusion. I would also replace the caliper pins, and inspect the o-ring seals on the hubs....

The new rotors will usually have new bearing races in them already (at least every rotor i've bought does)

BTW.....what part of Lake Country are you in????

Ok thanks for the info. I'll skip the bearings for the time being until I can get everything apart. Where are the o-ring seals on the hubs, and shold the hub cover come off and the hub "guts" be left behind when the hub cover comes off? This'll be a lot easier when my manual shows up!

I'm in Winfield, out Carrs Landing Road way.

The o-rings are on the hubs themselves, and is sandwiched between them and the rotor. As far as "guts" go, the only thing you sould see when you slip them off is the locknuts/washer for the bearings. Quite often, there is so much grease in there that it appears to be more than there is. Wipe the grease off and you should see the round locknuts with the four notches in them which takes a special socket to remove. There is also a c-clip and a splined washer (and sometimes a washer bearing) that need to be removed before losening the locknuts.

I'm located on what is affectionately reffered to as "Sunburn Hill" on the east side at the south end of Wood Lake. Carrs Landing is a "fun" road to drive.........
