I need to replace the console lid on my 2002 Ranger, with beige 60/40 seats.
My mechanic must have cracked the lid when he was serviceing the truck. They are on vacation for a week and I will make him replace it. I was wondering if they are available from Ford or the aftermarket, or will this have to be a wrecking yard find?
It is a fairly flimsy top and I think he leaned on it when he entered the truck.
I know he did it because I had cleared out a bunch of junk and cleaned the top before I took it in for service, and I was looking at the construction.
I temporarily glued the piece back in but it won't last.
Thanks in advance.
Oh yea are there any better tops for them?

There aren't any better replacement tops for our 60/40 consoles... I have a 2002 also. You must go to a junkyard to get a replacement, because if you need a replacement from the dealer, it is ~$250 and you must buy a whole new console and bracket and all that crap. Honestly, it wasn't 100% the service guys fault, ford made such a sh*tty console lid so it was bound to happen.

I realize now it is a crap design. I am finding out really quickly why I haven't owned a Ford in 35 years. I have only owned Chevs and I can't believe how crappy these things are built. Not the right thing to say on a Ranger Website but very true.
It was a clean break so I was able to glue it very successfully. I will not hold him to a new one but I will let him know I am not happy, I am thinking if it breaks again I will make a new top for it and do it much better.
I saw a couple of used ones on ebay in the 110 range for a complete console, but you are right back in the same ball game.
Thanks

No, the rangers are not a crappy design at all, its just certain little parts like that... I mean really, a console lid out of plastic instead of metal? FAIL.

Good luck, I suggest you find a local sheet metal fabricator or something, I'm sure they can help.
