Considering I will just be graduating I don't think this is a good idea...I will either be looking for work or within my first few weeks on the job...calling in sick would not be a good way to start...

But here is a suggestion...don't let your employer know you are a TRS member...lol!

I never call in sick. I have to be real damn bad off not to go to work. I have worked all day on a broken foot with no cast just crutches. Its a work ethics thing!:icon_thumby:

the grey-t escape
i would have to be unable to stand upright before i called off. no paid sick leave, bills show up weather i "feel good" or not. ive recently been reduced to 32 hrs/week. may have to find a 2nd job. wish i could make money with my truck/trailer. with gas costs and 13 mpg towing, i just dont think its a do-able thing.

There is a fine line between work ethic and stupidity. Working on a broken foot is plain retarded IMO. My thinking when dealing with a broken anything is that I want it to heal 100% perfectly so I don't have chronic pain later in life.

My boss routinely sends people home when they come in clearly sick as a dog basically handing the sickness directly to the rest of the shop. But I suppose thats a bit different when you put 6 hours of paid sick leave into the bank every paycheck.

I'm in with ya though man. April 2nd it is. Got it marked on my calendar as a call in day.

I sprained my ankle in a tournament once and hobbled around the class teaching martial arts...not an easy thing to teach someone how to kick when you can't even stand up properly...

My boss would NOT pay me if I did not show up and I was not in a position to be able to afford proper healing time...it was dumb on my part, but, then again...I thrived on that job...

When I was getting paid sick days I would take about one every two months...when I was feeling good and just needed a day off...but my Office manager told me that was what they were for...as long as we didn't take off Monday or Friday we were OK...

But I would come to work sick...not because I wanted to infect everyone because I usually got sick FROM other people in the office...

Offices suck for that sort of thing...you cannot get away from someone coughing or sneezing in a closed space...

If I am working on April 2nd I will consider it...but one guy in Canada isn't going to change things...we should have protested when things were going good...

I value my job too much to call in sick if I am able to function.
