Rpm calculator tells me 37" tire/.73OD ratio/5.13's gets me 2300rpm @ 110/65. Totally streetable!

Are you going to cut the 9 inch axles down to EB width, or leave them full and run a different rim offset?

I went from running 10" rims with 3.75" BS to 9" rims with 4.5". The width difference going fullwidth from EB width is only 1" per side with the narrower 12.50 tires vs. the 14.50 Toyo's I was runing before.

I'll be running 66" wms-wms, 69" in the 9"/D60 combo later so I can use stock size axle shafts.

Got the longer radius arms in, just gotta grab some pics. I needed 17's to run the new rubber, and they were narrower with less offset so I had to go fullwidth to get rid of the spacers I was running. I also bent the inner knuckles pretty bad on my old diff and would have had to replace it anyways.

In general, getting a company truck allowed me to park it in the shop for long enough to rebuild it and change things the way I wanted after putting the original build through it's paces. It's not that it didn't work, it worked fairly well infact.... but it could always be better!

Andrew,

Dude, awesome build. And a full right up on how much and on what you spent yer money on is way helpful, even tho i choked cuz i dont wanna blow that much.

After the jump you took on the UA (which was amazing) i dont blame you for goin to the bigger axles. But wont turning a 9" around for the front make it weaker? I thought that was the reason for reverse cut gears... So whats the benefit of that over a d60?

I didn't either.... but stretching it out over a year I didn't really see the actual cost until I tallied it up later. If I did it again, I'd have done 1 tons/custom axles to start. But I was young, and un-edgumukated in the ways of wheelin back then, live and learn.

I was looking into a Hi-9 front third for later, but that front diff will take me a year or two to build just because of the cost. Benefits are much less weight, higher ground clearance and a one piece axle housing that I can't rotate a center chunk out of.

I can't remember if it's on youtube or not (it's the very first thing that's shown on the U.A. video!) but if it is, it'll be under part/day 4 in Rausch Creek. It's not so much a jump, more like launching the front end off a wall at the end of a small mudpit.

Front:

Currie 9" center housing (custom removable cover), 3" x .5" DOM tubes
Chev D60 outers (got a complete narrowed D60/14B to hack up for $500).
I'll be building the housing to accept stock D60 sized shafts.
Not sure yet as to a flipped lo pinion third, or a HI-9.

Rear:

Pickup 9" housing
14 bolt spindles w/ disk brakes
Fully trussed with removable cover
Strange center section, 35 spline

Sadly it's costing me less to build these diffs then the first set I did!

Here's some progress, not bad for cell cam pics:

This looks like a UA quality build...o wait...

Nice rig and nice build with some great fab skills using somewhat budget parts. Keep it up!
