my age surprises people

I remember what I had for breakfast.

I don't remember most of last Friday.

I bounced my head off the frame of an Expedition a little before lunch and the rest of the day, until about 7 PM is just gone.

I remember thinking I was speaking and thinking clearly enough, even though I knew I was a little fuzzy, but more than one person I talked to thought I was drunk, and I apparently told three people that I was lost and couldn't remember what I was supposed to be doing. I only remember talking to two people Friday night.

This makes me feel pretty old... I think it's past my bedtime.

I remember no condos on the beach in Florida....and all that stuff Grumpaw said. And filling up my ‘68 VW for $1.00!!!! Used to have gas wars back in the day.....and not a single bullet fired. And I have socks n underdrawers older than that Zapper whippersnapper.

And, I do still like manual roll up windows, manual locks, vent windows, and a vehicle that doesn't talk back to me.

I remember that day. I was in Grade 6, I think. I came home from school for lunch, and mom had it on on the TV. It was quite the thing.

We did nuke drills in school. When the challenger went up I was young but remember them sounding the alarm, but then calling an assembly or something and we had to stay until our parents got us. I remeber it being lunch time and no one got lunch... we had no clue what happened until later. We all thought ww3 started.

I worked on the Space Shuttle program from 1982-1987. I was standing outside the VAB that bitter cold morning, and watched the vehicle I worked on take 7 lives....most insanely fascinating and boring job I’ve ever had.

I was at work talking to the tech who worked in my old stall about a transmission he had apart and another tech came over and said the shuttle blew up. I thought he was joking and was waiting for the punch line when he said he was serious. Walter Mondale was scheduled to speak at Dartmouth College after a rally in Concord when he was vice president but they weren't sure Air Force 2 could safely land at Lebanon airport so he rode up the highway in a state police convoy instead. Air Force 2 was sent up without him and managed to land without crashing. Our dealership was just across the interstate from the end of the longest runway and a few of us were at the back of the lot sitting on the tailgates of a couple new trucks drinking beer after work that Saturday when it landed, I could still see the planes tires when they started squealing on impact. The pilot used every inch of the runway but he landed that huge plane on our little airport.

i was in 3rd grade when the Challenger exploded, we were watching it in class, and all of a sudden, that thing split into 50 pieces and the teacher looked so confused, we were too, and she turned it off. bad jokes ensued

I grew up with dukes of hazzard, smokey and the bandit, 300 dollar 69 mustangs, early days of unleaded gas, mullets, bell bottoms, and every product had "amatic" affixed to its name it seemed.

Woodgrain was everywhere. Reagan was gonna save america, and things seemed good.

I dont remember much earlier then the late 70s or so, perhaps why im so nostalgic for that time period.

Hey, either way nice to see a young person who gives a crap and worthy of turning a wrench. It's rare these days so I say the kid deserves a high five. Are high fives still "cool"?

Us old people are not long for the world and we leave our mark on the younger generation. Any kid willing to turn a wrench these days is a good kid in my opinion.

I Don't even know of the last time that I high fived someone.... at least I didn't join in all the weird trends that most teens have
