This Thread will be reserved for the build up of my Ranger.

Update: As of yesterday I posted a WTB ad on craigslist and found a 14 bolt Full Float for 100 bucks. yup. i will pick it up friday.

Im still on the look out for a dana 60 so if anyone has in the austin area you know where to find me.

I will have detailed pics of fixing up the axle and the tear down of my ranger.

when she stands she will be on 40s or 44s. yea you heard right...

Everyones pushing me to turn back and instead just drop in a 302 or a 351w

and its true. maybe even more down the road i'll drop the diesel in. so if anyone has either hit me up and we'll talk.

Engine: 5.0 or 5.8 which ever i acquire first
Tranny: C6
Transfer Case:
Gearing: 5:13
Axles: Dana 60 and FF14Bolt
Tires: 38s for DD and 44s for trail
Wheels: 16 or 16.5

So you are actually going to DD a Ranger on 38s. That just doesn't sound safe for some reason. Granted it will be on full width 1 tons, but still that thing is going to have a lot of lift on it no?

sounds like a cool plan to me! What lockers you plan on running in them 1 tons?

Also, I imagine a Ranger on 1 tons, would be plenty stable on the street....

so you are going to run a 60 up front with leafs or what? if you are gonna run a locked 60 do 35 spline outers and an upgraded u-joint (longfields, or CTMs) especially running 44's

i run 38s and have no problems on the freeway, just watch for body roll

as for the detroit arb thing go detroit, i have seen alot of guys with ARBs have problems with torn airlines leaving their rig with a open front axle in crappy situations. Definitely do hydro assist

If you do acquire a 60 front there is no sense in messing with a 302. If you can't afford a fully built 347 then start with a 351w and stroke it as the next upgrade.
next, All a big cam does for you is improve the flow of a bad cylinder head. A good cylinder head is your best investment. The next biggest problem is: aluminum flows, cast iron makes horsepower. Which is best?
I say: 351w,351c crank,FRP sportsman heads,303x cam. It will cost big money to stay f.i. but it is pretty much a must. It would cost me about 10k to build the motor but, it would be fun! I could stomp 20k BBCs all day long!!
You may say that I'm f.o.s. but, I've seen it and I can prove it.
The factory gov loc in the rear will do untill you break it, then upgrade. I would run a detroit in the front, lock outs for street use.
