2010 ford ranger xlt 2.3 more power
Hi there everyone...i recent baught my 2010 ford ranger xlt 2.3...loaded...right next to that truck was the same model...but had the 4.0...i really needed a truck with good power but didnt kill me on gas....well i opted for the 2.3...really dont plan on using the truck to pull alot of weight so saving gas was what i had my eyes on...well the truck came with flowmaster exhaust, a k&n filter in the airbox...not a cold air type kit...all i have done since i got it was cosmetics...the truck had 35k miles and just had a full tuneup so im good as far as clean fluids etc...what i did was remove the lil snorkle on the airbox facing the front of the truck...took the lid off...drilled some decent sized holes in the lid....now i didnt notice a huuuuge power gain...but got a few more mpg...if you are hunting for power for pulling...just get a programmer and set the truck how you like...the short gearing on this trucks nice...goes through the gears quickly onacceleration..im very happy with my purchase because it was what i was looking for out of a truck...i know everyone wants more power...but if you want power maybe the engine package you decided on wasnt thought through well...if you have a newer ranger and already want a v8 in it thats awsome...but the 2.3 is what it is...a cruiser...but she will get out the way of herself....i also did a zip tie mod...yes it sounds weird...but go look at the cable on your gas pedal...the slack in the line left alot of hesitation when engaging the throttle....now its instant...yes 2 zip ties to take the slack out gives you major response! if you want i can show you a vid on how to do it...but this is what ive done for a lil more power and reliability! thanks
