I recently had a hotel heater/AC unit given to me by my electrition uncle. It works great but has a rattle... I am thinking who cares it would be FREAKING AWESOME in my garage. :yahoo:

Anyway it looks like they just slid it out of the wall and slid in a new one, I don't have the wall sleeve or grille to keep small woodland creatures from nesting or being shredded in the inner workings of the thing.

Is there a place you can get these used from when they remodel hotels?

I would see who the manufacturer is and check with them.
Might find one at a metal recycler but my guess would be it would be a long shot.

You could probably build a shell.
If possible go to the hotel it came out of and take a few pictures of the outside of the shell.
The manufacturers website may also have pictures and dimensions.

It is a GE, it also has a range of part numbers for the wall sleeve and grille on a decal.

I didn't know if by chance someone on here that worked construction or something knew of a place that sold used parts for these things.

A new grille/sleeve runs about $200-$400 which is uncomfortably close to a brand new window mounted heat pump without a rattle. It probably wouldn't be big enough for my garage but all I really want is something to knock out the humidity in the summer and frost in the winter.

Right now I am thinking about just making a plywood sleeve with an angled roof on the top and affixing some sort of grille to the outside of it.
