ok so i just got a set of hedders for project ranger ressurection they came with a y pipe and all for around $300 shipped to my door not bad deal at all right?:headbang:
but they are just painted and its not a high temp coating just enough to keep em from rusting.
so i have been looking in to diy high temp sprays (you know rustoluem and all that) seems to me if you follow the procedure and do it as per recommendations it should last and be better than bare metal. which would be nice i have enough rust as it is:sad: mostly why i bought headers any how any opinois tips tricks any thing like that please pass along
i have youtube vids ill post some links

VHT High Heat paint works well,I never could find it but they do have high heat primer available. Have em sand blasted and wipe em down with thinner before painting,a lighter color is better such as white or silver since it holds the heat in better which gives more power.

I run JBA headers and they are ceramic coated. You got a good deal on those shipped. I stole those headers. I paid almost $300 for mine new back in 2001 on Ebay shipped. The paint you chose is great. I used it on all my race cars and it lasted for a very long time on the headers and mufflers.

When you recommend the VHT, is the primer necessary if it's like doing a second coat then?

I bead blasted the headers on my old race cars and just used 2 coats of the VHT. I never used a primer. Never had any problems with the paint. The headers always looked good.
