Wanted Good running 2.3L engine needed in eastern Missouri/western Illinois

I'm looking for a known good 2.3L, preferably one with a distributor hole so it can be carbed. I *think* that's up to 94, but please check your motor if you're going to offer, please.

'll take later motors if you have the computer and all necessary wiring harnesses for the swap. It'd probably be better if it was a parts truck at that point so I can make sure I have everything I need. My budget ranges from a couple hundred up to a grand depending on what it is and how confident I am in it's condition.

I have a first gen with a bad 2.3 but is otherwise nice and would like to get it on the road. I don't mind a drive for the right deal. I live in Dittmer, Missouri and drive into the Glen Carbon area of Illinois often. I also have a brother near Champaign, Illinois that could pick something up, if it's in that area.

Any luck? I have an 85 ranger parts truck. The best thing about it was it ran well. Body is rusted and she hasn't started in a couple years. A tree fell on it and took it out of commission. It is a 2.3, 5 speed, 4x4, ran when parked. Was my brother's truck and he owned it for well over 20 yrs. It's a little further away than you asked. It's in Michigan on the state line with Indiana north of Elkhart Indiana. I was gonna recycle it but I hate destroying a good engine. Let me know if your interested. I'll let it go dirt cheap.

Hey tw205, I'm interested. Do you know if the egine is still freed up (not locked)? Were you looking to sell just the motor or the whole truck? I wouldn't mind having the spare trans and transfer case if you want to sell it whole. Shoot me a PM with a price and we'll see if we can work something out. I have one I took out of my 1986 just a few weeks a go so I could install a v8. It ran good when I pulled it. It is fuel injected, 500 or best offer. Located in Clinton, TN
