Thanks!

And no. i am leavin them full width! its gonna be sweet. I think lol. But i have to come up with some kind of flares. Ohio law states no more than 3" of tires can stick outside of the flare. I know this is going to be an issue since i want to drive the truck daily. I just got a ticket for tinted windows and no front plate on my powerstroke so i know they are not going to like the wide stance. but i will figure that out when the time comes. Plus the bumper height is going to give me issues. I will have 2 trucks that are asking for tickets... hmmm i gotta make one of them a smaller distraction some how lol

**ALSO UPDATE:**

I bought a ring today. Wallet is light now but its all good. This means i can start buying parts and get this build rolling! :icon_bounceblue:

And If you know who i am, dont tell anyone. no one knows yet. well, except trs

I am been slacking. Sorry guys. I have been pre-occupied with other projects. The guy that bought my 79 couldnt pay me so i repoed that and have been trying to get it road worth so i can get a little more out of it. Plus its been raining here a lot which hurts motivation to work... until i see mud holes :D

I have my new spring perches, shock mounts... that need to be set and welded to the rear axle. I hope to accomplish that this weekend. As well as finish my bumper. I also picked up a spool for my front D44 for $40 :)

Finished Bumper - except paint

I pretty much finished the bumper this weekend

Sanding it down to the weird angles

Test Fit

Trimming

Test Fit, Ready for welding

Top View

Bottom Corners Welded

My Frame comes up at an 8 degree angle. I took angle iron and cut it at 8 degrees. I welded that end to the bumper. I am using existing frame holes to line up the holes in the angle iron for attaching to the frame.
I clamped them together and grounded them until they matched

All welding was arc - I dont have a welder, so i have to use friends dads, which have the old school stick welders. But i am glad i learned how to weld with one

Bumper was built for a grand total of under $50 not includeing paint.
That 50 bucks includes the steel, welding rods, cut off wheels, D-Rings, and 2" receiver! Beats paying $450 for one. Although this one ended up being a little heavier than i wanted. but its all good

Bumper C Clamped to frame

Its going to be pushin in another .5" towards the truck

What the weekend entailed of :icon_thumby:

Rear axle pics will be posted later today

8.8 Perches and Misc

finally got some sunny days here in NE Ohio

Took my org 7.5" and new FW 8.8 to a buddies because he has welding stuff.

The 7.5 Compared to the 8.8

I shimmed the pinion on the 7.5 until i got 0 degrees on the perches. Then i measured what the pinion angle was and set up my 8.8 to have the same pinion angle. However, i added 2 degrees due to the large lift i am doing. I made sure that that would allow enough oil to get to the pinion bearing with out foaming. It should be good.

Then i measured the perches and carried those measurements over to the 8.8. I double checked by measuring from the perch to the drum back plate to make sure my axle would be centered.

The Perches are for an early bronco from the bronco graveyard. That gave me the right tube diameter and perch width.

Welding didnt go as smooth this day, but they will hold

My front body mounts have been disfunctional for 2 yrs at least. the Cleveland salt has taken its tol on them plus i used to plow with it. So i am going to cut them off and use some large angle iron i found to replace them. Also the rivots are in the way of my bumper so the new ones will be welded on.

Pass side off:

The replacement

Getting these off allowed my bumper to fit where i wanted it. Although i know i will probably hit something have have the corners smash my lights. but rangers/exploders are plenty full in NE ohio junk yards

Trying to keep my arrival angle the best i can

It started to get late, but i started to tear my D44 down a little bit. it needs a good cleaning

Track bar removed

I found some 5.13s on craigslist for it. I wanted 4.88s but 5.13s work. I am picking those up on saturday. He has 9" ones too. might just get those too and build a 9" later. 8.8s are just so much cheaper. Also found 15x10s near by. Waitin on what the backspacing is on those. I have to pick up the front spool i got too. Its coming along....
