GM Lowering Shackles

I should buy new hangers but i didnt. I will just wait til they break. However, i grinded the rivots and punched them out to get the rear hangers off to install my new GM lowering shackles. I found them in the Summit Racing clearence section for cheap :headbang: It took some pounding to get them in the brackets but they went in there. Anyhow, they are installed with my new "old" springs that are softer than what i had.

Looks pretty good. Congrats on the coming engagement and the ME degree. I'm in that program now, it's hard as hell.
Thank you. :D
Are you doing a Co-op? i did and recommend it. The experience is great. Some days that program can be really hard and agrivating (sp?) and other days are just hard. Stick with it. Its worth it!

I dono yet. haha. i have not done any measurements on the front axle. I will find out when the time comes haha. Let me know if you find out how far they are supposed to be spaced. I have 2x2 square tubing with .25 wall that i was going to cut and use as my spacer. But i think thet will be too much. I also have 1" thick alumn plate at work i might just drill the holes needed and use that. I am tryin to avoid using my access to mills, lathes and stuff because i want to build this as if i had just normal hand tools... and a torch haha

My school doesn't offer a co-op as far as I know. I'm just in my first year of the actual engineering school though so I'm still learning quite a bit.

Bumper

Well, my spring perches and shock mounts didnt come in. and i was at my buddies which is where i have welding access. So i looked around in my barn and found a few feet of 2 x 2 x 0.25" tubing. So i was like, i will go make a bumper. So i went to the office real quick and drew up a simple bumper on 3D CAD and printed out drawings with dimensions to make the build easier.

I want somthing tough but not big and bulky. my 1/4" wall tubing is also heavy so i dont want to use too much of it to save in weight. I also dont want it stickin out the front too far but do want a winch someday. so i integrated a 2" receiver into it.

heres what i came up with:
and the frame connections are not shown in the drawings

D28 being put to good use finally. Holding down my saw horse while i cut the tubes

Main Straight Pieces

One of the Top sections. Cut them all with a sawzaw

Kinda my plan for the 2" Receiver

Something like this. Cept 2" lower. Yes, i do have DIXIE Horns

Top ready to be tack welded. Ran out of material to do the bottom angled members
