The fan runs off the engine computer in the Taurus. You can find the fans at the jy and even on eBay. Or you can go aftermarket on the electric fan but for the price of one of these and how many cfm's they move, they are a very common choice. Just be sure to have a good alternator to feed the fan, running a 65amp and it holds up to all of my electrical needs just fine, I want to upgrade to a 100amp one day due to i will be running a winch.

Well shit. I already have a winch. Dnt use it much. But my altenator is the stock 85 ranger altenator. Will that put out enough?it had the 2.8 v6 in my truck originally. Im not sure what amp the stock alt is.i planned on buying better alt in feb. but for now i just needa get truck goin to get it tuned and exhaust put on. So i cnt afford 100 alt at the moment. Will my stock one work for time being?or is there a ford truck that has the 3 threaded prongs on back of alt with 6 and 12 bolt tabs for mounting thats more amps i can junk yard buy???

If it's a 2.8 alt. I think those are 40amp. When my fan turns on it dogs down my engine a little but still charges my battery.

What ever FEAD (front end assessory drive) you have from what ever vehicle you got from should put out enough. I know the stock Fox body mustang one is enough (from the link) to run the fan even though they came with mechanical fans from the factory. A quick look at AutoZone website should tell you what your alternator output is. Also you may be doing a bit of a wiring change if you go from an external regulator to an internal regulator, what modern day vehicles have now.

Mines is the stock 2.8 v6 alt and i changed frm vpulley to serpentine pulley. I did that so i didnt have to rewire anything. Or buy altenator. When i buy altenator im going with single wire 100 amp to 200 amp alt. pending on my mny situation at the time. Il just try it and see what happens i guess.

I've looked up the one wire setup by not much luck, guess I'm looking I'm the wrong places.

I didn't do much of my wiring since my dad is a wiring genius but the alternator I'm running, I just integrated it's harness into my current setup along with the external regulator delete and have been good.

Another good solution is to run a small flex fan and a pusher fan setup, I get you a link yoyo a contour of builds that use them and 4.0 explorer rads.

Work in progress build...

http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=129036

And proven to work cooling setup that the top link person is doing.

http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111591

Both of them are using explorer 5.0 FEAD setups that give you even more clearance between the rad and belt setup (and any mechanical fan you want to run as long as it's reverse rotation fan due to those water pumps are reverse rotation if I remember right)plus you can run a 130amp alt if you want.

Hers a picture of my issue. Since your setup is higher up, I guess that's why I'm running into issues. If I had run an np205 I would have been golden. I'm going to be running a 78 Wagoner front shaft, just need to shorten it 12 inches. has the 1310 joints but I will be running a 1330-1310 conversion joint at the tcase. I do have an f150 shaft but because how close the 1330 joint gets to my long arms on my d30 at the pumpkin yoke, I am going to play it safe.

You have about the same frame clearance as I do. I'm getting a place in a month with a garage and maybe I can just mod my current trans member but setup keep the other part I have been making to add to the strength.

Also thanks for the pictures, will use those to help me.

I put my filter up behind the driverside head light where the charcoal canister was. No more having to get under the truck for the filter and getting oil in my face. Plus the oil lines are more out of harms way. I do like the custom made lines though.
