Not sure where to post this question. I have done a V8 conversion in "Project Outrangerous" and have now checked the drive shaft fit. It slide onto the trans shaft and slide right into place. I have about 3/4" of free play at the transmission. Is that enough? How much is enough? Thanks for the help. Check out my build in progress.

End play

I found the answer to my own question on another site. Seems .75" to 1" is acceptable. Just make sure that the yoke is not bottoming out on the end of the transmission output shaft or the inside of the trans.
Case closed.
thanks
