I just got my lights working a couple days ago after doing a M1354 swap.
I took that piece of the wiring harnes from the donor truck. It is about 15" long and has that rubber gromet in the middle where it passes through the floor of the truck underneath the seat.
I removed the seat, and the plastic trim piece by the door that has 4 philips head screws in it. This gave me enough access to the wiring.
I unplugged the old harness and popped it right out. popped the new one in and it was good to go.
The Gem was still flashing the dash lights cause it did not detect the shift motor.
I pulled the radio bezel, and looked at the gem. Remove the one screw that you see and then slide it down to get it out of there. On one side you will see three plugs. As you are looking at it when it is mounted in place, the bottom plug is the one you need to look at. The plug has 22 pin holes but not all are used. Look for the same color wires as those that went to the switch. They should be gray and blue with a black stripe. Cut those wires and you are good to go.
HERE IS THE CATCH!!!!!!
All of the 1350 manual cases I have had, used different switches than the 1354 that I swapped into my truck. The one that went into my truck had two wires going to it. It was a simple setup that had power supplied to the light bulbs and then when the case was shifted, the circuit was completed through the switch. One wire for each indicator light. The circuit went to ground through the Tcase.
I do know that the 1350 switches had only one contact that I saw on them.
I dont know if you can swap in the switch from a 1354. I think you might be able to because IIRC the shifting mechanism inside is the same as the 1354. However I was not looking for differences when I tore down my Tcase before putting it in my truck.
Hope this helps.
