Went out to CORE this weekend for the first time. They had some free event with live bands camping etc. I went out on Saturday for some wheeling. Theyve got lots of different tracks for atvs, bikes, rally track, rock crawling, and mud bogs. I played for a few hours before I broke my front end.
I ripped the drivers side radius arm out of the crossmember while climbing a steep hill that comes directly out of a long mud bog. We tried to winch it out backwards but that only would have resulted in more breakage so, after waiting about a 1/2 hour for a 12000lb winch we pulled it out up and over the hill. Then used wratchet straps to pull the rad arm back up and into place. That was enough to drive back to the camp area where we welded up a retainer out of an old nut and hub parts. That gave me enough piece of mind to drive it back to denver 60 miles.
A damn retaining washer was all that broke, everything else looks fine but I will have to crawl under the truck and check it all out later to be sure.
As I was heading out there were two supercell thunderstorms headed that way....glad I wasnt camping. All in all it was a good time.
when I saw this I thought I was gonna be there a while.
here is the rigged up spacer/retainer in place
strap pulling/holding rad arm in place run from skidplate to where arm hooks to axle beam
