byrons "ranger#1" 4x4 long travel build up

Looking good so far. Box in the back side of the Passenger beam. As for the cut on the lower ball joint. That is pretty much how I would do it. Make sure to cut the weld on the wings inside the beam. Those will help gusset the piece after it's moved.

I used a cut off wheel and a grinding disc to open my axle window. If you plan to use coils then look at how this D44 was modified. Could do something similar or you could build a box and space the coil buckets out a bit.

i think im gonna move the coil bucket out accordingly and also find or dezign some adj. coil buckets that wont break the bank

Prolly a good idea. If you move the coil bucket out you don't change the spring rate much. but inboard and a 500 Lb/in spring could become a 300 lb/in spring.

my thaughts exactly but it would be coool to angle the spring in :icon_idea: and get like 6 or 700 one

yea updated today i relocated the lower ball joint both out about an inch 1/4 and welded it up real good not bad for my 110v lincon i just turned up the heat and dowm the wire speed and slowed way down and pulled the putle along slowly lol and the last couple of pix im thinking about welding that on th add reenforcment to the lower ball i dont kno i looks a little wird but i does look like a strong what do u think

You should really start prepping your welds better...its needs to be down to clean, shiny metal before you start welding it together........

For the bottom plate I would just make it square and put a slot or hole in the bottom. No need for the triangles. Looks good so far.

I would agree. It looks like you're gotten fairly decent penetration, but a clean surface would penetrate much better and provide a MUCH stronger weld. Sand blaster or not, even wire brushing or grinding a bit would help.


Looking pretty good so far.

got these designed up today lookin good ? i thinkk im gonna be selling the compleat extended radius arm pretty soon sepending on the outcome and intrest and im thinking around the price of 260 plus shipping would anyone be intrested

opon further review i dont like the dezign its to big and square i really dont care much for the square look i like more round and flowing lines plus im shure thiss things gonna weigh a ton and a half. o well at least i have failed and now i can start the revision process =]
