So I had a fun morning. Went out to start the truck for work and as it started I smelled gas really bad. Got out to check to see if the 87 fuel "filter" canister I had just replaced was leaking. Nope, no leak there. Look towards the front and gas is free flowing from the engine bay.
I shut the truck off push it into the garage, pop the hood and restart it. I look under the hood and the long line coming off the FPR to the canister is shooting gas all over the exhaust manifolds.
It looks like the steering shaft had been rubbing this line and eventually the heat from the manifolds finally burned thru the line. Someone upstairs was definently looking out for me, if I had driven off I would be BBQ right now. Once I get the new line made up I'm gonna wrap it in some kind of heat shielding wrap. Anyway, scary moment of the day. Thank God I it happened while cool and not in the middle of driving down the highway.
