ball joints

how bad is it to replace the ball joints on an ibeamer? went for an alignment and the shop says the lowers are shot. figured id replace the uppers too while i was at it and its apart. how bad is it to do myself?? been many moons since ive changed ball joints and never on an i beam. is there a how to somewhere that i can check out and get a better idea of whats involved?

If this thing is a 2wd it's as simple as having an adjustable wrench and a BFH.

Pop the calipers off, undo the BJ nuts, and whack away until the knuckle falls off.

^ This. I did my upper/lower balljoints AND all 4 shocks in under 2 hours.

ive got one of the spindles off now. popped the bjs loose with the fork and the spindle came right off. now just have to get the bjs out which is going to be the hard part. ive had everything else apart before so im good with that part

Just clean the tapered hole real good of any rust/crud once the ball joint flies out !

thanks for the responses guys. went to a local shop and had them press out the old ones and press in the new ones. got it pretty much back together then found out that one of my outer tie rod ends needs replacing. was hoping to have it back together tonight but will have to wait until saturday. hopefully get it back together then

got everything back together yesterday. now just have to get it over to the alignment shop sometime this week
