I get anywhere from 5-10 spam calls a day at least during business hours, not sure what I did to get on some lists but likely refinancing my home loan last year or when I was executor of my dads estate like 5 years ago... it's gotten worse in the last few months for sure...

I refuse to screen my calls since I shouldn't have to, they're always different numbers, no repeats since they started using the random number generator things a few years ago. One dude that called me was actually pretty cool, he laughed at me since I was going off on him (was like my 8th call that day), he told me the magic words to say "please remove me" and told me to register on donotcall.gov so I did, that was just over a week ago so I haven't cussed anyone out in the last week...

For the record I'm kinda making a mental list of companies to not recommend to anyone, so far "clean energy solutions" has called me 5 times in the last 24 hours, State Farm insurance apparently pays money to this BS as well as one time a few days ago an especially sketchy automated thing asked me for my zip code (gave them the one for Salem) and to spell my first and last name so I told them Steve Genovski and wouldn't you know it within 30 minutes I got 5 calls for "hey Steve" and "Hi, is this Steve?" :). I know better than to give any of these things real data or even use my normal voice in the automated part...

A legend to the old man, a hero to the child...
The do not call list is a joke.

The biggest one i would get is the car warrenty shit. I told them i drove a 77 F250 with 250,000 miles and they left me alone :)

I get a few a week...depending on my mood ill ignore them, mess with them, or just flat out tell them to go f themselves.

Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.
Get rid of the phone.

If it's really important, they can send you a post card.

Junk mail makes great kindling.

It takes some time but any call I get that is unknown and don't leave a message get blocked. I don't get many spam calls now but nothing is fool proof. Even if you were to get a new number, it won't stop the spam calls. They use a computer to generate numbers and keep calling as they "run down the list". I wouldn't be surprised if the log which ones get answered and/or go to voicemail as good numbers to try again.

Do what the guy at work does… tell them they sound cute and ask for their phone number. It doesn’t matter if they’re a man or woman.

I have an in-laws that’s older and she answers all every phone call and has conversations with spammers. She gets a spam call about every 10 minutes. ( when we come over to visit I will take the cordless phone and answer as dominos pizza. “Hello, Dominos pizza. Pickup or deliver”……. “I’m sorry mam, but this is dominos pizza. There is no one named so and so here.”)

I don’t answer the phone unless i recognize the number or am expecting a phone call from a certain area code. I get a spam call every couple months.

Sometimes they will spoof actual personal numbers of others, Ive had “call backs” from angry people who claim I just called them, and ive called back numbers who “called”me but not the person that the # is registered to. Anymore I just don’t answer if I dont know the number and later add it to my ever-growing “block this number “ list. What sucks is that they can still call and leave a message, the call just wont ring through to my phone. I still get calls for the person who had my # before I got it and Ive had this phone # for 6 or 7 years now. When they would ask for joyce Id say “she’s dead”. Once the other party asked when & how. I said “want to be next?, keep calling “ . That stopped one for a while.

Seriously though, I went brutal. My cell lives on silent unless I’m expecting a call and I have it set to send calls that aren’t in my contact list straight to voicemail. After a couple months of that, spam calls are a rarity.

Please… I rarely even answer calls from numbers I know. There’s not a snowballs chance in hell I’m answering an unknown number.

On my Android Phon, use an app called "Safest Call Blocker":
after I get a spam call, click on this app & select "Add Last Call".
Future calls from that number will be blocked.
Takes awhile to be effective, but works well for me.

My phone's a land line, with no nothin, it's like having a tin can and a string. I can't remember the last call I answered that didn't belong here. If I do get one that's an oddball I say Hello, plz leave a number and I'll call ya back!, Then I hang up and they get a dial tone ;)

I used to get that one all the time, literally every hour during business hours. They caught me not busy one day, so I had 'em tell me all about the policy, costs, coverage limits, etc. (Almost 2 hours on the phone.) then told them about my Ranger. Dude hung up on me. Haven't had a call since. That was 8 years ago...

They share lists of numbers across companies. Once one blocks you they all do.

They do that with my in-laws as well. They will spoof her doctors office, actually pretty screwed up.

Not sure if it's been my attitude towards the last people I've talked to or being on the list now but I'm down to 0-4 a day this week and almost all straight to a person... most of the last ones have been for "senior benefits" so I tell them I don't have medicare so please remove me from your list...

One of my ex's... pretty devout christian... would always answer spam calls with

"Joe's abortion shack, you r*pe em we scrape em!"

Even I would have a hard time with that one 😆
