AC clutch cycles on and off but doesn't stay engaged

After fixing my blend door actuator then with the help of RonD fixing my vacuum lines that a mouse chewed i still cant get the AC to blow cold. every time the clutch engages intermittently in a cycle, it blows cold for a second then stops when it disengages. for that short time its engaged i get cold air. i know the system is holding refrigerant just wont stay engaged.

i checked that it was within range, i dont know if its a high or low pressure switch or relay. i tried the paperclip method with the relay it stays on but i dont know how to diagnose the actual issue without buying every part. I took bridges down for a living electrical was always a over my head

Typically with rapid clutch cycling... the system is low on a charge.

You must remember with cooler ambient temps... clutch on time will be shortened. This has everything to do with the pressure temperature relationship of refrigerant.

The only real way to know what going on is not to blast new parts at it... but to put a set of gauges on the system and see what's happening with pressures.

needs refrigerant., might be leaking at the o rings.
Might just be a bunk compressor....I had to got through a few to get a good one. Fourseasons brand sucks BTW.

I just went through this, and it was a low freon charge. They told me both Schrader valves had a very slow leak, and this is a common problem. They said after checking pressure or charging, the spring in the Schrader valve sometimes does not get it sealed properly. They always use a tool to pull up on the stem after charging with freon.

This! My HVAC buddy who helped me resurrect my ranger a/c emphasized how important the caps on the shreader valves are to protect them from leak damage...they are very sensitive and jus open exposure will mess em up
