A4LD lost all

I have a 92 exploder 128,000 mi never has acted out of the ordinary until I was leaving a store and out of no wear had nothing but 1st gear.. once it comes out of 1st there’s nothing. Limped it home & no reverse.. nothing but park,neutral and 1st.
Any suggestions?

Check the oil level. Also check the color of the oil. If it looks dark, you can drop the pan down off the trans. If you have a lot of debris in the pan, the trans is shot.

If you want to try all you can do yourself, you can pull the pan and change the filter and the oil. It's a shot in the dark but a rebuilt trans is expensive.

If you can’t fix it with a hammer, you have an electrical problem
I wouldn't waste the money on fluid and filter. There is something broken or burned up. First and Reverse share all the same elements to make them functional with the exception of the Direct clutch and Forward clutch. The direct pack is on in Reverse and the Forward pack is on in First. replace or rebuild time.
