Im begining a 2jz swap into a ranger. Ive seen one other person do this here but its super old and none of the photos are accessible now. I plan to document this very detailed and keep it updated here. I would love to answer any questions and i am open to any advice
DETAILS:

2JZ: (currently in progress)
gsc stage 1 billet cam
gsc valves
gsc conical springs
8.5:1 compression diamond pistons
Manley H-beam rods
stock crank
67mm turbo
-all parts are capable for 1000-1400hp but i plan to run it around 600 i just want it overbuilt.

RANGER: (open to suggestions and have not purchased yet)
just a beater for under 1k preferably under 500
first gen 80s for the look, electronic simplicity, and weight
single cab short bed 2wd
will be running a full custom wiring harness and ecumaster emu black along with a amu 7 dash.
CD009 Nissan transmission
Rear end is in the air - How much power can a 8.8 hold? can it be built?

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
A built 8.8 should handle 600hp in a light truck no issue.. however.. a 9" would be way more 'boss' as the kids say.

Any details on what entails "built" i plan to do a 9 inch in the long run since i want this motor to make 1000 at least once for internet clout lmao (cant have a supra motor make less than 1k these days) but i want to run the 8.8 for as long as i can and build it for as cheap as i can prior.

I want to put a 2j in a 280z but the whole reason i chose this for now is im very familiar with the ranger platform and it id going to be very cheap comparitively so i may actually get a running driving vehicle sooner and cheaper. So anywhere i can save money im open.

Thats what other people seem to forget... 600hp in a 2500lb truck im.probably going to lose traction before i shred gears lmao

i don't even know if you need to say probably in that sentence. you could have left that word out because i lose traction with a 3.0 and five speed at 100hp

Lmao same. I will put bigger tires on it but traction will always be the weak point

2JZ is
31" long, pulleys to starting edge of bell housing (end of block), so 4" longer the 302/5.0l V8 which barely fits with short pullies and E-fan, could change to shorter wider radiator in front of rad support, maybe get enough room

27" tall, bottom of pan to top of valve cover, 302 V8 21" tall, can do a body lift

30" wide (edge of stock twins to edge of intake manifold), 302 V8 19" wide
This ones a killer in a Ranger engine bay
Have to move steering shaft and lose heater box, exhaust to outside of frame maybe

It will be no where near that wide as well. Aftermarket intake is less wide and the turbo will be higher where the engine bay is wide.
