i have a 1988 ranger i have lifted but it has sat for the past two years because of my new DD (06 f150 on 35s) now im ready to do something diffrent with my ranger and i am interested in slamming it on air bags.

Why not?

3 link the rear end but what would i do with the front end, air bags and i would have to fabricate some kind of shorter axle pivot bracket possibly? and most likely take out my front driver shaft?

i do not need to completely lay frame but would like it to be low.

please help

i would say find a frame from a 98+ 2wd Ranger and put your 88 body on it....

the A-arm suspension is soo much more receptive to airbags......and lowering....

i think by trying to lower your 4wd you are opening a huge can of worms....

Your best bet is to sell the 4x4 and get a 2WD...you will need to remove the engine X-member and swap it for a 2WD member as they are different...if you want to retain the 4WD use...your best bet is to locate an AWD aerostar and use the frame from that...

you could do that, but it will not be low enough for you liking due to the pivot point locations of the axle...

if i made custom axle pivot brackets say 1-2" shorter from top to bottom would this allow for me to drop more and still stay aligned. if i were to do this what kind of mounting brackets would i need to mount the air bags to the spring perch?

I would necessarily 'bag' it but give it a lowered street racer stance. If the gears are matched up and the tires have even wear you can get some good lap times from a 4wheel drive. Butyou gotta be ready for excessive wear. ANy lowering spring for a 2wd should work for the 4wd as long as its not more than 2-3 inches. Camber kits should help adjust. even then i would do alot of research. You can prolly even keep your stock ride height with larger wheels low profile tires, a body kit, and more agressive spring rates at the same ride height. It just depends on where you wanna take it. THe way the brackets are designed to lift the ttb over 3 inches i would think dropping it 3 inches would require the shorter brackets you said, if not sinkin hte mounting holes deeper into the frame if that makes sense.

LOL....you'll be maybe a couple inches of total drop. If you really wanna keep the original frame, Z the front frame, bodydrop it, cut a hole in the hood for the engine to poke though and now you've got a bagged slammed 2wd with a front axle.

Honestly, frame swap it with a 98+ like mentioned above. I know it's got sentimental value, but why would you wanna open a huuuuuge can of worms by trying to bag a TTB??

But x2 on Ranger SVT's AWD idea. Ride height is gonna be lower and about the same as a stock 2wd Ranger of your same gen, but it'll be AWD and totally unique.

It would be different. Put a 2.3T motor in it, slam it, and have a Turbo'd AWD!!

Just sayin...
