So my fuel pump finally gave up after 30 years
Was on a job site as well, last job before long weekend, at 2pm was ready to leave and Crank but No Start
Couldn't hear the fuel pump with key on and off a few times
Did the OBD1 jumper and FP relay "clicked" but no pump sound
Jumped the FP relay, no sound from tank
OHMs tested FP relay's out to pump slot, 0.9-1.0 ohms, so inertia switch was OK but pump wasn't, tested inertia switch as well waiting for tow truck
Was 20miles from home, called some local shops in that area, $1,000-$1,500can$, and "maybe" they could get to it the end of next week
Have all my tools in the truck so got it towed home, $160can$, he didn't get to me until 5:30pm, didn't get to my place until 6:30
Ordered a new pump assembly, from my local parts store while waiting, they couldn't get Motorcraft, so I am getting Spectra..........can't just get the pump only either by Saturday(they are closed today)
This morning I got the tools out and canopy off, then bed liner out
6 bed bolts came out OK, tight but all 6 came out with breaker bar and T-55
3 7mm filler bolts
1 rear light connector
Bed is slid back and I hosed off the top of tank
Took a few hours
I will let it dry out a bit, before testing wires and pulling fuel lines, still raining off and on here
