wrong gem module 1998 ranger

just got truck.. 4x4 dont work and lights flash in dash, motor doesnt kick. so replaced switch in dash and still no luck.. read post that say 4x4 shift module goes out alot so checked at ford place and they said mine was built into gem... gave them gem part number and they said wrong gem for that year....but new one with them was $336 .. anywhere to buy cheaper one or good way to check current one... thanks

Get me the VIN. I will run it and see if Ford's system goes back that far to tell me the original part number on that truck's GEM.

Sorry, the truck is too old. Only goes back to July of 2000.
