Worst Ford Vehicles ever made

The older Taurus were pretty junky. Junkyards around here had lines of them, mostly with bad transmissions. Contours sucked pretty bad also. We had an AWD Tempo that was one of the absolute worst cars we ever owned, even though it had very low miles.

The AXOD-E later called AX4S had high failure rates and Yes, the 4-cyl Contour/Mystique CD4E was probably the worst auto tranny Ford ever made.

In my opinion, pretty much any Ford vehicle that rolled off the assembly line without a manual transmission option constitutes as the "Worst Ford Vehicles Ever Made".

But the Explorer had an option for a manual transmission, just not installed on that particular vehicle. I probably didn't word it very well but your Explorer is ok. Windstar would be a horrible vehicle, for example, because in no way could you even order it with a manual transmission.

What about Panthers? They never came with Manual :P While we're talking about Trannys, pretty much any FWD automatic (foreign or domestic) is crap!!

You mean Crown Vic? Sure, we'll lump it into the worst category just so I can stick to my original statement. But either way I'm not too terribly fond of them, uncomfortable back seats and I can never get the rear doors to open from the inside.

So I guess driving down the highway and having a spark plug spontaneously lodge itself in the underside of your hood doesn't constitute a problem for you.

94k miles on my '02 without a problem.

At any rate I would rather put an insert in the head of a 2v than cam phasers in a 3v...

There are tons of Ford engines with quirks if you are going to pick on just engines. I would be ripping the crap out of a feedback 2.8 (or even a regular 2.8 for that matter) A LONG time before I would pick on a 2v 5.4. I have had the thing for 7 years and 69k miles, it has been a great engine for me.

well of course the back seats are uncomfortable as there plastic & having handcuffs on doesnt make it any easier & does make it harder to open as those cop cars dont have the inside door handle rod connected.

Have you spent a few trips in those back seats?

I had a Tempo and drove it for 14 years...had almost 400,000 km on it when I finally got rid of it (clutch finally went)...but it was a good little car in my experience...front end went out 4 times...in tank fuel pump went out 5 times...I had a 5 year warranty and everything was covered...so it's not so much what happens to the vehicle...but how well you are prepared to cover the costs if you plan on keeping it more than two years...

As for the worst vehicle from Ford...could be the Tempo...lol...there used to be so many in the junk yards that I thought they were cloning themselves...but these were also one of the most popular cars sold in North America...so there was bound to be large numbers of unsatisfied people...

Ok so what about ford lightnings?

pretty sure they didnt make a manual trans to hold up to the horsepower and weight. Unless you want it to shift like a lumber truck.

All you can do is

What about the 1960 Ford Popular 100e?

The problem with the Pinto was 3 fold. First it wasn't the placement of the gas tank that was the issue most cars had the gas tank placed behind the rear axle it was the fuel filler that would break off before the tank leaked that caused a problem. Second Ford sold over 400 thousand Pinto's in the first year. Third Ford was reactive rather than proactive on the problems with the Pinto.

What about the chevy covair?
