Worst Ford Vehicles ever made

I swore off Fords for 10 years after having one of these POS!

Had the C3 auto tranny...known for going out...and mine did.

Paint went to crap very shortly.

Leather interior cracked and shrunk. Literally came apart.

Lower body was plastic and discolored.

All within 3 years....36,000 miles.

Bought it in '86 and Ford sent me a recall notice 3 DAYS after I traded it in for paint, interior and I took one HELL of a beating!

The later years evidently didn't have these faults but IMHO the German Quality claim is a myth!

It handled wonderfully[IRS] and with a few mods beat just about any V8 you came across modified or not.
 
i loves me some xr4ti. so ugly but so cool. i was looking for one a year or so ago but settled on a turbo coupe. i think the merkur would have been a bigger PITA

some one has found my favorite car, the Merkur XR4ti (4cylinder, Turbo charged, fuel Injected) and the Merkur XR4x4 ( which is the 4 door 4wd version). they are pretty rare in the state
 
In it's defense mine easily went 147MPH as documented by a Sheriff's Deputy that paced me in his LS1 powered cruiser.:icon_thumby:
 
In my opinion, pretty much any Ford vehicle that rolled off the assembly line without a manual transmission option constitutes as the "Worst Ford Vehicles Ever Made".

You just don't loike auto's do you lol... I'm too lazy to shift anymore.

If I could find another merkur, i'd buy it. They are rare to see around here.
 
theres a Merkur club around my area, every once in a while I see em on the highway doing 90 in a line of 4 or 5
 
I think they're pretty cool for their time, like how they got sneaky with the speedo, during the 80's they had to stop at 85, but on those the dashes still went up to 150, lol.
 
My vote goes for the '80-'82 Thunderbird (and Cougar). These were just kind of sad, downsized into something nobody wanted.

Ford bounced back nicely with the '83 T-Bird/Cougar, which still look pretty good.

Totally forgot about this, but the 88-94 Continental, I actually like the appearance & styling, but the drive train was a joke. It was just a bigger Taurus/Sable.
