The tip about dish soap is a good one because I use it for many things other than washing dishes. It removes grease from driveways (almost perfectly) and is a good lubricant for stuff like you mentioned.
Having it on hand when working on greasy parts is great because after cleaning up with the degreaser lotion I wash my hands with a light spray of the soapy water and I can proceed into the house without leaving a trail of greasy finger prints...
Dish soap also makes an incredible insect killer if you are working outside and being attacked by black flies, mosquitoes, or even angry hornets. I keep a spray bottle filled with water and about 5-10 drops of dish soap. One squirt in mist mode kills black flies and mosquitoes almost instantly and blasting hornets out of the air with jet mode works great...but takes practice.
I don't actually like killing bugs but when working under a vehicle near long grass or even on my driveway the last thing I want is to have mosquitoes attacking me when my hands are busy.
Isn't that the way they always attack though?
