I just got a reman 302 87-91 comp eng and tran. Is this a good motor to use in a 88 ranger super cab.

Couple changes... Ranger is a 91'. The motor is fuel injected but has some ignition problems so I've decided to scrap the computer and harnesses and get a new intake, carb, etc... Any suggestions on where to find them on a budget? Was going to use the reman AOD that matches up with the motor but was told the AOD is a pos and I should spend the coin and get a C4. Since Im going carbureted I don't need the trans that matches the motor, correct?
