Will a Holley sniper work with a 1985 A4LD? Looking at a 1985 bronco 2 for sale locally with a 2.8l and an A4LD. Anyone have any experience putting a sniper on a 2.8?

Do it.

Kickdown rod may be an issue, that’s the only major thing I can think of and it’s a very minor thing overall.

I think you would have to wire the converter lockup to a switch.

I'm wondering if I can somehow use the Holley sniper to control the transmission. What does the stock computer look for to lock the converter? I believe the early A4LD is all hydrologic other than the converter? This would be my first ever project car and I have a lot to learn here.

Just needs a psi switch. Sniper don't run a transmission.
