My credo
built her in a storage unit
i have hunted and hunted and i cannot find this damn thing back there. i found two nuts that are 13 mm on either side of the distributor but they don’t loosen it a bit. please help pictures appreciated!
 
Hmm....is it broke? That could suck.

He said he can't see it...and I assume the intake is off with all he is doing.
 
I didn't know he has it torn down...

But he did ask for a picture... so I obliged.
 
That's why I was concerned....


Though they are hard to see in the truck ..

302 is way easier to work on.
 
Distributor hold down bolt is at the base of the distributor, screws into the block, usually has a "Y" type fitting that press down on the distributor base to prevent it from turning

You have to feel for on the 2.9l because its at the rear of distributor so hard to see it
Often 1/2" or 9/16" heads
 
That's why I was concerned....

302 is way easier to work on.

Yeah... I've never owned a 2.9L. As long as it keeps going... I'm gonna let it go. The minute it gives me trouble... I think I'm gonna either TDI or old school 302 with a Holley Sniper system. I'm way more familiar with the 302... so it may win out.
