I'm going to take the plunge and do my own trans work on my M5od-r1hd. $500 to fix 'em everytime I break 'em is getting to my wallet pretty hardcore. lol. I've done transfer case rebuilds and manual trans rebuilds before, but they were all on very common parts(SM465, NP205, NP203). Anyway...Where can I go to buy replacement parts???? Affordable yet quality parts? Are there upgraded parts that are better than stock?? I'm in need of most definately the mainshaft(tailshaft) to fix my busted trans and has the lower ratios in it*.
I've done some googling, but I find out finding replacement internals for these trans are sorta hard to find....it's always the fullsize trucks that have alot of parts availability(SM465, T5, NV4500, all the GM turbo hydramatic trans, etc).

*before anyone rips me a new one and links me to the TRS tech artical showing gear ratios.....I SWEAR my stock '01 trans has different ratios than my replacement '06 trans. The '01 is back in it and it's a total dog now compared to before the '06's tailshaft split.
