last night my bearing blew up on me, simple fix? hell no! took it apart today. looks like the wheel bearing got welded to the spindle. never seen this before. and no one has this part in town. cant even find it online. anyone know where i can get this part from in a hurry, possibly overnight? this is my daily driver.

this is what a normal spindle looks like

and this is my spindle with the inner part of the wheel bearing welded to it.

fricken AWESOME!!!!
god i cant wait to set this damn axle on fire after i do my swap. ive replaced this whole hub assembly 5 times in 3 years. this is the 3rd time my driver wheel fell off due to hub failure.

off to the junk yard to see what i cant find

Take an air chisel to the back of it and some pb blaster and heat. It'l come right off, trust me, I 've had this problem before

Do proper maintenance, grease (pack not just smear) the bearings and check your bearing nut torque every oil change or two... more if you have larger rubber or offset rims.

I had 247xxxkm's on my truck and one wheelbearing failure, and I can tell you exactly why it happened. I went wheelin in deep mud/swamp and never bothered pull the hub apart and regreasing the bearings. The seal can be pulled and reused if your careful, I did it a half dozen times or more. The seals suck, so water and crap will always get in... just gotta say on top of it.

everything was just replaced 6 months ago when my wheel last fell off, including the warn hubs. i always use a bearing packer and the truck hasnt touched water or been wheeled hard since then. mainly because im tired of replacing these parts and missing days from work. was gonna wait for the swap to do any serious wheeling.

im gonna try pb blaster right now. dont have an air chisel so im gonna go buy one right now. no access to a torch so ill see what i can do. thanks for the tip

Use a little propane torch is all. you dont want to get it very hot. It hurts the integrity of the metal. Those spindles are special hardened steel. And just a tip, I got my air chisel with chisels at Lowes for $20 (NOT on sale, that's retail) and have had it for over a year and havent broken it yet.

and i also torque my spindle nut to 250lbs, i know thats overkill but i have 33s on offset 15x12. always made sure the rotor has enough free spin to specs. i know the spindle nuts didnt move because i marked them to see if they spin at all. and i inspect everything every month. everything was perfectly fine 3 weeks ago. it gave no warning. heard a small ticking and 10 miles later, the wheel nearly came off :dunno:

its always the driver side, i think the spindle is messed up. id hate to replace it when im only gonna run this axle for another month

There's your problem, and yes...

The bearings are too close together on a D35 to handle an offset rim that big, even 10's are pushing it. Think of the leverage that thing has on the bearings that at best have a 3/8" gap between them...

I'd grab a spindle from a wreckers, yours may be worn causing premture bearing failure (even with the wide rims!).

If you have a die grinder or even a Dremmel tool with a cutting abrasive wheel, you can cut that race off. Just cut it along the center line of the spindle as thin as you dare(don't cut into the spindle it's self), then hit the split with a cold chisel and it should split and fall off.

that was my next idea. if this chisel thing doesnt work, im gonna cut it off, or try at least. just came back from the parts store and looks like none of my parts are warrantied due to bearing failure. my rotor is shot to sh#t after grinding on the knuckle for a few miles, and my pads are cracked. there goes $200 down the f*ing drain.

it kills me that all this money could be put toward my swap and this is just setting me back even further. fml

i hear what youre saying. i knew these rims would be harsh on the bearings, so ive always kept a close eye on them and replaced them when necessary, but i never expected this much isuues.

wish i kept my old 15x8s. not much i can do now, just try and survive another couple months

My wheel fell off my truck due to dry+loose bearings(before I knew that D35's have problems with loosening of the nut) and my spindle looked exactly like yours. Mine was so bad that it was a deep blue from the intense heat. I ended up buying a new spindle from TRS's shop. Here is the link if you need to buy a new one.
